Frequently Asked Questions

In our practice, where we focus on a holistic and integrated approach to health, combining principles of chiropractic, functional medicine, clinical nutrition, and advanced biotechnology and therapies.
What is holistic medicine?

Holistic medicine is an approach to health care that aims to treat the whole person, integrating physical, metabolic (Think nutrients, blood, hormones, etc), and mental or emotional therapy approaches.

It emphasizes the patient's well-being from a root-cause perspective, including their lifestyle, environment, and the underlying imbalances that lead to chronic illness, rather than just focusing on the symptoms of a disease.

What are the different types of holistic medicine?

Our practice incorporates a variety of holistic approaches, including:

  • Chiropractic Care: Focusing on the body's structure, primarily the spine and nervous system, and its function in controlling and regulating every aspect of the body.
  • Functional Medicine: A systems biology-based approach that aims to identify and address the root cause of diseases.
  • Clinical Nutrition: Using food and supplements to optimize health, decrease inflammation, prevent disease, and treat illness from where it develops.
  • Advanced Therapies: Such as spinal decompression, low-level laser therapy, nerve stimulation and more, to support healing and reduce pain.
What types of conditions can be treated by holistic and alternative medicine?

A wide range of conditions can be effectively improved through holistic and functional healthcare strategies. In our office, we support patients with chronic pain, neuropathy, metabolic disorders like type 2 diabetes, hormonal imbalances, digestive issues, and even positive mental/emotional health. Our integrated approach allows us to tailor treatments to the individual, addressing your pain and symptoms by correcting underlying causes and dysfunction.

What is the most effective treatment for neuropathy?

Our 4-pillar approach to neuropathy is how we achieve the most effective results:

  • Reducing inflammation and toxins through diet and targeted nutraceuticals.
  • Nerve stimulation via chiropractic adjustments and advanced bio-therapies.
  • Promoting angiogenesis and blood flow with therapies like low-level laser therapy.
  • In-office care to accelerate the healing process.

If we determine you are a candidate we can help, patients enjoy that many of our recommendations can be done in the comfort of your own home, making it easier to follow recommendations and create the best results.

What are the different treatment options for knee pain?

Treatment options for knee pain include chiropractic adjustments for alignment and function, knee decompression to traction the joint, clinical nutrition to support joint repair and decrease inflammation, physical therapies to strengthen surrounding muscles and tissues, and advanced treatments like laser therapy for pain relief and accelerated tissue healing.

What are some of the signs of poor metabolic health?

Signs include elevated blood sugar, high blood pressure, excessive waist circumference, high triglycerides and cholesterol, and low HDL cholesterol. Other indicators might be fatigue, digestive disorders, brain fog, difficulty losing weight, insomnia and increased inflammation.

What is the best way to improve metabolic health?

Improving metabolic health involves a comprehensive approach:

  • Adopting a nutrient-dense, whole-food diet in which we guide our patients through easy to follow strategies.
  • Engaging in regular physical activity.
  • Managing stress effectively.
  • Ensuring quality sleep.
  • Supplementing as needed based on individual assessments and/or test results.
  • Weight loss and decreasing excess body fat.
  • Improving and optimizing gut health
  • Balancing blood sugars
What is spinal decompression?

Spinal decompression is a non-invasive therapy that uses traction to gently stretch the spine. This process creates negative pressure within the intervertebral discs, promoting retraction of herniated or bulging discs and facilitating the flow of nutrients and hydration into the disc, aiding in healing and pain relief. Spinal Decompression is more effective than inversion tables as many of our clients are unable to use these devices to hang upside down effectively. In addition, Decompression will gently and progressively traction the spine and can target specific areas to bypass tight muscles and muscle guarding that can make it difficult to help open specific areas of the spine.

What are the benefits of spinal decompression?
Benefits include significant reduction in back and neck pain, improved mobility, decreased pressure on compressed nerve roots, and promotion of healing in damaged intervertebral discs. It's an effective therapy for conditions like sciatica, degenerative disc disease, Peripheral Neuropathy and spinal stenosis.
To what extent do genetics affect weight loss?

Genetics can influence body weight, metabolism, and fat distribution, but they are not the sole determinants of weight loss success. Lifestyle choices, dietary habits, hormones, toxins, inflammation and physical activity play a crucial role. Our practice focuses on personalized strategies to help individuals overcome stubborn weight gain despite any genetic predispositions and help patients achieve their weight loss goals.

What types of conditions can benefit from chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care is beneficial for a wide array of conditions beyond musculoskeletal issues, including headaches, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, and certain types of vertigo. It also supports overall wellness by enhancing nervous system function, which can improve immune response and increase energy levels. Synergy Health is specialized to help our patients with Neuropathy, Type 2 Diabetes, Knee pain, degenerative spine conditions and weight loss.
Our holistic integrated approach, focusing on chiropractic, functional medicine, clinical nutrition, and advanced therapies, is designed to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. By addressing the underlying causes of health issues and employing a comprehensive strategy, we aim to restore health and improve the quality of life for our patients.
